Salton Sea Birding Tour
See the Salton Sea’s fall bird community! We will carpool to 2-3 sites along the north shore, including 84th St. and Salton Sea.
Meet outside the Starbucks at the Arco travel center at 66th St. and Hwy. 86 at 12:45, to leave at 1 PM sharp Wednesday, October 16. Address: Starbucks at the Arco, 90480 66th Ave, Mecca, CA 92254. The tour will end at the conference reception at around 4 PM. We can return people to their cars at about 7 PM when the reception ends. Restrooms available at Salton Sea SRA and North Shore.
Bring: Binoculars, hat, water/bottle, sunglasses, hiking boots/sturdy walking shoes.

Meet at Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge and pick up 10-20 participants (would start at 1p)
Drive to Red Hill Bay, air quality sites/hike red hill
Drive to Mud Pots (over bridge)
Mud Pots
Drive to Management Marsh and stop along McDonald Rd
Drive back to Wildlife Refuge

Please note: Registered summit participants can join the Salton Sea Tour. There will be moderate walking/hiking – hats, sunscreen and sturdy closed-toed shoes required.
Directions to Sonny Bono Salton Sea Wildlife Refuge from Coachella Valley:
Ave 66 east to Hwy 111; continue south on Hwy 111 to Sinclair Rd; turn right and continue west to the Refuge entrance.
